Teja Krasek’s theoretical, and practical, work is especially focused on symmetry as a linking concept between art and science, and on filling a plane with geometrical shapes, especially those constituting Penrose tilings (rhombs, kites, and darts). The artist's interest is focused on the shapes' inner relations, on the relations between the shapes and between the shapes and a regular pentagon. The artworks among others illustrate certain properties, such as golden mean relations, self-similarity, fivefold symmetry, Fibonacci sequence, inward infinity, and perceptual ambiguity. Krasek’s work concentrates on melding art, science, mathematics and technology. She employs contemporary computer technology as well as classical painting techniques.
When Ten Meets Eleven...

When Ten Meets Eleven... is a geometrical composition where a basic decagonal shape is filled with Penrose rhombs from a Penrose tiling P2 (thick and thin Penrose rhombs) accompanied by two golden trapezoids. In part, we notice a symmetry breaking that causes our playful minds to experience some perceptual instability offering multiple visual interpretations. Composition is rich in golden mean relations and was created for Gathering for Gardner 11 conference.

Starlight is a geometrical composition where a basic decagonal shape exhibits 5-fold and 10-fold rotational symmetry. In it we can observe an interplay of various geometrical shapes from Penrose tilings P1 and P2 (thick and thin Penrose rhombs, and kites and darts), as well as pentagons, triangles, and pentagonal stars on different size scales. The composition also displays self-similarity and golden mean relations.
