My primary artistic interest is in designing repeatable patterns – I particularly enjoy creating geometric star and floral designs, which stem from my fascination with Islamic art. Over the past ten years, I have studied the structures of star patterns in order to create my own, increasingly more complex patterns. I enjoy taking traditional forms and adapting them into lesser-used symmetries and compound or invented tessellations.

Cotton and Viscose Jacquard Textile
2010

This jacquard sample was woven during the summer of 2010 for practice while attending RISD. The pattern is based on a tessellation of 28,14, and 7 sided polygons and was designed in 2007 or 2008.
