I am a student of art history and an artist. I was raised by mathematicians, so much of my art is influenced by geometry. This piece was a gift for my parents, who love polyhedra and specifically the icosahedron.

Stained Glass
2013

For thousands of years humans have sought evidence of the devine in the perfection of mathematics. Geometric decoration can be found in religious buildings all over the world. This stained glass piece recognizes this tradition and celebrates the amazing icosahedron. The surrounding mirror polygons pay homage to H.S.M. Coxeter and his use of kaleidoscopes to study the symmetries of polyhedra. They also allude to the many stellations of the icosahedron.
