My name is Katrin Ihle. I am 49 years old and I live in Buchholz, a small village in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (Germany). Just over four years ago I got to know “KlugeStrickArt” and have been in constant contact with Ms Kluge herself as well as with many other interested people via the internet platform "Strickademie". We use the technique for knitting pictures, clothes and other items of use. Within the framework of a project group "Mathematical Art Gallery" my picture "Major Triad" was created.
The picture shows the figurative interpreted spread of the major triad C away from the piano keyboard. The implementation of the knitted picture is based on the oscillation equation resulting from the addition of the individual equations for the tones C, E and G of the one-line octave. If the sound frequencies are multiplied by the factor 2^40 or 2^41, the frequency range of the visible light is reached. Thus, each tone corresponds to a specific color (C-green, E-violet, G-red). The sound curve is the basis for the calculation of the order in the list of color combinations. The brightness and size of the respective color areas depend on the size of the function values of the sound curve.
