As a mathematics educator, the teaching and learning of mathematics is a creative process; however, many of my students do not perceive mathematics in this way. In my classroom, I have found success in incorporating artistic approaches such as visual graphs, colour and creative writing (in the form of alliterations, analogies, metaphors, personifications, and puns) to make a lasting impression on student understanding, recognition and memory. An example of this is demonstrated in my film "The Adventures of the Residents of Number Town: Multiply's Multiple Friends", which personifies mathematics and integrates it into everyday life.

"The Adventures of the Residents of Number Town: Multiply's Multiple Friends" is a whimsical allegory about the impact of mathematics in our everyday life, and the heartwarming value of friendship. Join characters Multiply, Divide, Subtract and Add, and explore their world, Number Town. In doing so, we hope people of all ages will learn the creative and fun side of mathematical operations through analogies and metaphors.
