KnitYak creates one-off cellular automata scarves. One day someone
asked if such designs could be made on a Möbius loop. Rules 105 and
150 respect the necessary symmetry of the double knit scarf. We
wrote a program to search for patterns that would be the right
dimensions to make a wearable scarf ~100 stitches wide and ~1000
rows long. We found cycles of width 114 and length 1022 for both
Rule 105 and Rule 150. These were then knit by KnitYak and hand
kitchenered in pattern to maintain Mobius symmetry. On display is
the rule 105 scarf.
