Yoshiaki Araki & Tomoya Tendo
I have been pursuing tessellation/fractal design of shapes/spaces to
attract wide range of audiences with media familiar to them. My recent
focus is to show how complex shapes are generated by simple rules.
There are many interesting three dimensional fractals, however, most
of them are too difficult for most people to recognize through
computer generated images.
Utilizing elastic 3D print, we provided squeezable models of a not
widely known IFS (Iterated function systems) fractals. Audiences
can feel their fractal natures by directly examining the detailed
structure with their hands through bending and stretching the
shapes.
