Statement

I design and fabricate string art sculptures and light fixtures. They are modern, colorful, geometric, and unique. I use wood, acrylic and aluminum, strung with Kevlar, hemp or monofilament line, to create my work. The light shows shadows of the strings when well-positioned. I design patterns that are functional and ornamental. I have been making string art for about 11 years. In 2015 I showed three pieces of my work at The Bridges Math Conference in Baltimore. The works were presented in three locations and included in the art catalogue. I also participated in the National Arts Program in Philadelphia, PA. I won first place in the intermediate category the first time I entered my work, a 3-dimensional lighted string art sculpture.

Vibrant Pyramid

Acrylic, wood, kevlar string, vibration controlled light source

2023

This piece of work showcases conductivity of light, and the effect of reflection. It is an interactive piece, which changes color in reaction to vibrations. The sculpture achieves balance through symmetry, with straight lines used to create curves. Light travels through the acrylic material, and is emitted at the cut edges.
