As a visual artist, I am fascinated with symbolism, patterns, and symmetry. Symmetry is a shared concept in mathematics and art. Symmetrical compositions are aesthetically pleasing and suggesting calmness. Our brains inadvertently seek out symmetry everywhere. The focus of my exploration is to juxtapose geometric (regular) and organic (irregular) shapes to create contrast and experiment with the patterns created by their repetition. I am captivated by the endless possibilities and the exquisite perfection of the completed designs.

I used three photographs to create a symmetrical design. With the repetition and rotation of the rigid industrial construction and the curvilinear foliage motif, I formed a sense of harmonious proportion and balance. Then I added a soft blue cloud pattern as a background. My intention was to create a contrast between man-made and natural. Our nature is to transform ourselves and our surroundings to make our lives easier and more comfortable. The symmetrical man-made design represents the creation of life, a precious human existence taken for granted in an unforgiving environment.
