Statement

I am interested in patterns of isosceles right triangles and squares made from origami square and triangle tiles on a grid of woven paper strips. This system is Tiled Origami Quilts on Woven Paper Mats. Any design of squares and triangles is possible although some extra square tiles may be needed to attach a triangle on the edge of the mat. This is a traditional American quilt block called Carpenters Wheel. A tiled quilt can be used as a record of a fabric quilt that is sold or given away. It can also be used decoratively, framed or as a wall hanging. It can even be used to teach elementary mathematics such as fractions (of color), area, perimeter or percent.

This tiled origami quilt on a woven paper mat is made in the traditional American quilt block pattern Carpenters Wheel. There are square and triangular tiles made from copy paper. My designs are printed on the tiles. This is an example of an HST, half square triangle quilt except that some pairs of triangles are replaced by squares. The squares could have been made by two HSTs.
