Statement
Ochre Scriptory Grand is a work that celebrates self- orientation from within, between, and around our two cultures- Science and Art. The sketchbook quality of this narrative is meant to illustrate a range of math inspired creations but also to represent the scrolling processes of imaginative thinking. Connecting notions from singular academic disciplines requires layering, analysis, collage and construction. The two pieces exhibited here are details from a 32-foot long drawing where symbols are allowed to echo, reoccur and blend into one another over time. Math, perhaps our most radically original creation, infuses at root levels the dozens of tools, inventions, and measuring devices we use to build bridges in time and space. This is an archival digital print. The original painting was made with ink, marker, chalk, pencil, casein, gesso and gouache.
