Statement
My fascination with the aesthetic qualities of Mathematics has lead me on a journey to discover new drawing techniques to express the grace and beauty I find in sequences, equations, fractals and geometry. My artistic practice has explored properties of the Fibonacci Sequence, and Cantor Set Chaos Theory and more by creating grids templates and stencils. The works are hand drawn using algorithmic mathematical rule based processes of my invention. These drawings have become the starting point for other projects: works on canvas, videos, artists books and a new series letterpress limited edition prints with Purgatory Pie Press.
Artworks
This letterpress print was made in collaboration with Purgatory Pie Press in New York. Printer Dikko Faust used a Vandercook press to create an edition of 27. The print was developed by overlapping and rotating my single Fibonacci Circle Curve drawings. These spirals are an exploration of consecutive Fibonacci numbers as they relate to the area of the circles.
