I am a digital artist with a background in design and technology. Formerly a product designer, I now create artwork inspired by tessellations.
It wasn’t until 2012 that I discovered the mathematical art of M. C. Escher and his work in tessellation. Immediately, I became fascinated by the imagery and its underlying geometric principles. I studied the rules and started creating tessellations of my own.
In 2013, I licensed two tessellations to a London fabric house and held my first exhibition. I went on to teach tessellation workshops in schools and following a second exhibition in 2015 I set up Tessellation Art.
Currently I live in Prague and record all of my Tessellation Art design and development work at www.tessellationart.com.
Artworks
'Animal Heads - Wolf' is made from hundreds of tessellating wolves. It uses a mosaic technique that I developed specifically to create mathematical artwork.
As with traditional square mosaics, each tile is a different colour. In this case, the individual tiles are howling wolves. Look closely to see the detail on each, or take a step backwards and the wolf head is revealed.
I am currently developing an 'Animal Heads' artwork range using the same technique.
'Animal Heads - Fox' is made from hundreds of tessellating foxes. It uses a mosaic technique that I developed specifically to create mathematical artwork.
As with traditional square mosaics, each tile is a different colour. In this case, the individual tiles are cunning foxes. Look closely to see the detail on each, or take a step backwards and the fox head is revealed.
I am currently developing an 'Animal Heads' artwork range using the same technique.
