Torus
8 x 3 x 3 cm
Metal rods and elastic
2012
Torus is a flexible sculpture that when handled illustrates geometric transformation from a cylinder to a torus. The tactile structure is handmade by weaving 50 metal rods with elastic hinges. This is part of a series of constructions exploring pattern, metaphor, and phenomena.

z=xy
8 x 8 cm
Metal rods and elastic
2012
z=xy is a flexible sculpture that when handled illustrates geometric movement from a flat planar surface to a hypar or more formally a partial hyperbolic paraboloid. The geometric structure is handmade by weaving 16 metal rods with elastic hinges. Join several together to create interesting modular shapes. This is part of a series of constructions exploring pattern, metaphor, and phenomena.
