Quilting cotton

2019

Playing with iOrnament with my Apple Pencil on my iPad got me thinking about rosette groups Cn and Dn. Exploring patterns that could be cut out and lifted in one piece, I cut a piece of fusible glitter on my plotter/cutter. It produced two patterns with one cut - a positive D7 shape and its negative ground. Both could be used together on the back of a jacket. This led to other rosettes that could be digitized and embroidery on panels on the front of the jacket. The most pleasing were odd numbered rosettes. Dihedral patterns were open and lacey while the cyclic patterns easily inspired knot like structures. The jacket is cotton quilt fabric with embroidered panels and piped edges. The basic pattern Is Sewing Workshop’s Omdé Jacket pattern. The C6 buttons keep the whole thing together.
