My inspiration for these came from Lissajous figures, which conveyed movement in phases. I wrote some code in JavaScript to generate scalable vector graphics (SVGs) to randomize combinations of sinusoidal functions with varying constants. Each piece generated is unique. These were then drawn on paper with a mechanical plotter -- a tool much better at drawing straight lines than a human.

Each semicircle is a snapshot of movement of a curve defined by sinusoidal parametric equations. It is an exercise in capturing the movement over time in a static image.
