Statement

I am interested in patterns of isosceles right triangles and squares made from origami square and triangle tiles on a grid of woven paper strips. This system is Tiled Origami Quilts on Woven Paper Mats Any design of squares and triangles is possible although some extra square tiles may be needed to attach a triangle on the edge of the mat. Traditional American quilt blocks can be made. This work is a new direction although it still could be considered a quilt pattern. It is a Truchet tile pattern published in 1704.by Sebastien Truchet. it is made from the original Truchet tile which is a square divided into two isosceles right triangles, one black and one white. There are four orientations of the tile possible. They all appear in this work

This work is a combination of modular origami and weaving. It is a Tiled Origsmi Quilt on a woven paper mat. It is made by attaching black triangular modular origami paper tiles with tabs to a grid made from white woven paper strips. No glue or tape is used to attach the tiles The triangular tiles are added to squares of the grid to produce the original Truchet tile pattern. This is a square with black and white half square triangles. All of the four orientations of the black and white square.are made. This tiling is also what is known as an HST, half square triangle, quilt pattern used by fabric quilters.
