Statement

My longstanding persistent interest in building and exhibiting objects with compelling optical qualities which evolved first from painting and then into the world of three dimensions and optical illusion was the impetus behind creating this work--and being a part of, in some small way, your world renowned organization.

ZERO SUM

I was inspired to created a series of polyhedral sculptures and their shadows that were intended to evoke a heightened sense of stereopsis for a viewer. The title ZERO SUM doesn't refer to its origin in game theory, but rather to the V-E+F-C= 0 of the Euler equation for polyhedra on which these assembled objects are based. These media also create intense moire patterns when they move, and their behavior relative to the wall also evokes a sense of intense planar depth.
