Statement

My artistic interest lies in exploring the aesthetics of nature through mathematical and algorithmic design in the fields of architectural biomimicry, computer graphics, and human-computer interaction. In this animation work, I develop a generative graphical design system to demonstrate the biomimetic beauty of forms growing, shape morphing, and blossoming behavior. This system utilizes mathematical recursion, symmetry, and fractal trees to create computer graphics with a two-point line construction, resulting in intricate floral expressions. In the animation production, I employ iterative recursion to generate the growth process of floral forms, and through the concept of self-similarity, I establish geometric rules within recursive structures to organize the rich interplay of lines. This work achieves abstract aesthetic expression through logical thinking, showcasing the mathematical beauty and floral imagery.

This artwork showcases flower growth, blossoming, morphing, and the interconnectedness of branches and leaves. Using recursion and geometric relationships from fractal trees, it employs Cellular Automata (CA) structures for group diffusion behavior. Through iterative recursion and geometric relationships, this animation immerses viewers in the captivating journey of flower growth. It brings to life mesmerizing moments of blossoming and morphological transformations, revealing the intricate beauty and complexity of nature. In addition, the artwork seamlessly integrates electronic acoustics in collaboration with France's GRAME National Centres for Musical Creation. The music composition blends personal sensory experiences and artistic expression, creating a multi-sensory experience. Through abstract and concrete forms, the music conveys the essence of flower growth and its variations, inviting profound artistic exploration of the natural world.
