Watch

A film about arts-based embodied math workshops on binary number patterns with Swedish elementary teacher candidates at Malmö University. Starting from a Mike Naylor poem, "Run, Hero, Run", we used movement and dance, sound, painting, sculpture and fibre arts as ways to build familiarity and understanding of base two number systems, creating a beautiful display of binary art pieces at the university for others to learn from as well. This film shows that it is quite possible to weave together many different embodied artistic expressions of sophisticated mathematical patterns to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of math.
