Statement
As a child, I dreamed to study mathematics and art. I became a professional mathematician and my love of art is my hobby. I am trying to spread the beauty of mathematics through all what I do—through my lectures, through math circles to high school students, through animated movies about math, which I helped to create, and lately also through my art creations. I love flowers and geometrical designs and playing with colours. Spirals, tilings and geometry are themes which continually inspire me.

Wunderlich cactus growth
20.0 x 40.0 x 0.5 cm
silk paint combined with bobin lace
2023
One can study in my artwork the structure of two various iterations of the so-called Wunderlich curve, one of the famous space filling curves. One can discover its beauty and inner structure. In my artwork I like to connect mathematics with nature, and this I tried in this artwork as well. Does it resemble a cactus? May be a fantasy math cactus which so far grows only in my garden. And as it grows in complexity it starts to blossom.
I dreamed for a long time to combine silk painting technique with a bobin lace, both are my favorite, but I tried this connection in an artwork piece for the very first time.
