Statement
I studied fiber arts and painting at East Tennessee State University and am now pursuing a career as an art therapist. My art has long been inspired by the beauty, colors, and patterns found in nature. My fellow artist and friend, Caroline Bowen, and I have collaborated on a variety of projects inspired by nature and math. This piece is our third collaboration in our work together as science artists.

Damped Wave
10.2 x 56.0 x 40.0 cm
3D Printed PLA, embroidery floss, alcohol ink, wood, spray paint
2023
The second in a series in collaboration with Caroline Bowen. This sculpture illustrates a damped radial wave as a 3D surface mesh. The base made of 3D printed pegs was generated using a python script, painted, and assembled on wood. The mesh was built using white embroidery floss tied to the pegs before being hand painted with alcohol ink.
