Statement
I am a retired engineer, computer hobbyist, naive artist and have always been fascinated by geometry. Current computers and sophisticated programs make it possible to create, study and visualise complex structures. For me this is a constant source of challenges and fun.
Artworks
Ever since their discovery in the 1970s non-periodic tilings like the Penrose tiling have been a source of fascination for mathematicians and physicists. Along with glossy porcelain of clear shape they have a high aesthetic value for me.
In this work I combine both topics and use a recently described new tiling [1] as decoration for a china plate. I present the theme as an exhibit. The rotational orientation of the plate induces tension between symmetric and non-symmetric aspects. The fly supports the photorealistic exposure of the work and also distracts the viewer from the symmetry of the object.
