Statement

This piece of art showcases a stellated octahedron, crafted to create a mesmerizing visual display. Each of the triangles is adorned with the engraving of an owl that safe guards the forest with her big round eyes and soft warm feather. The contrast between the sharp edges of the triangles and the graceful curves of the owl engravings adds a touch of nature to the geometric structure. The use of stellated octahedron in this artwork emphasizes the intricate patterns and shapes that can be created with simple geometry, while the owl engravings serve as a reminder of the beauty and wonder of the natural. casted cement

2023

We are often inspired by the beauty that emerges unexpectedly from simple geometric shapes and order. The stellated octahedron consists of 24 triangular panels made with casted cement. The panels are joined with magnets and can be reconfigured into other polyhedra of right triangular faces such as tetrahedra, octahedra, icosahedra, and some stellated polyhedra. The buildable forms can be further extended to other polyhedral shapes if squares and pentagons are included to shape the panels. The use of casted cement as the primary material for the sculpture adds to its natural, stone-like feel, as it is a durable and hard substance that can still be molded and shaped into a variety of different forms.
