Statement

I am a student taking the 'Molecular Aesthetics' course held by Professor Bih-Yaw Jin at National Taiwan University. This general education course aims to connect traditional crafts with molecular sciences.

During the 'Molecular Aesthetics' course, Professor Bih-Yaw Jin presented a beaded model of a (2,0) gyroidal surface. For my term project, I decided to use a (1,1) Goldberg vector, which was different from its predecessors. To simulate the helix structure in the gyroid, I used octagonal beads of varying colors (blue, red and yellow) and put them into a hexagonal strip at appropriate position. This helped to change the curvature of the model and achieve the desired helical structure.
