Art is a good excuse to play. Play is a fun way to try on new realities. Exploring patterns and symmetry through abstraction presents an opportunity to look outside of a regular pattern of seeing. Relationships between underlying forces exemplify the inseparability of structure and narration. Structures and voids organize a lattice around these distinctions and connections.

"Sigma 12 Knot" is a glass sculpture based on the +Sigma invariant cubic rod packing arrangement. The +Sigma arrangement fills approximately 15.2 percent of space when extended infinitely and can be created by removing eight out of nine rods from a hexastix arrangement. Meticulously crafted from 12 precisely joined glass rods, the sculpture's unity is achieved through the delicate welding of their ends, utilizing four loops and eight bends. This transparent medium serves as a canvas for the ever-shifting interplay of light, unveiling the sculpture's mesmerizing internal geometry. With restraint and precision, this piece invites viewers to explore the subtle complexities of mathematical beauty within the world of glass and light.
