Statement
My recent work is a mixture of printmaking, publishing and pedagogy. I make small-scale paper constructions that can be quickly printed in large quantities on an office printer, then scored, cut, folded and glued. One series was a set of mailing envelopes with exotic topologies. Lately I have been making mathematical pop-up cards. Always I want to make my viewer laugh or smile -- and wonder. I want each piece to offer a little mathematical surprise, perhaps a new idea, or an unexpected twist on an old one.
Artworks

This piece consists of a card-stock box containing eight pop-up cards. Each card, when opened, unfolds into a particular three-dimensional projection of the four-dimensional cube. These cards are page studies for a longer-term project: Pop-up Book of the Hypercube, an introduction to 4-dimensional space, pitched to a general audience.
