Statement

I am an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Cal Poly Pomona, and I am interested in the way that mathematical objects can take abstract ideas and make them embodied. I love to build intricate structures that emerge by following simple rules and exploring what is possible under given constraints.

Laser cut plywood and hardware

2024

This model of a small stellated dodecahedron is made from laser cut plywood and attached together with hinges. It is an object with full icosahedral symmetry, and the three-fold and five-fold symmetries are very pronounced. It can be surprising how different the object can appear when looking from different perspectives.
