Statement
Chris Nho is a math educator and artist based in San Diego, California. Working across printmaking, digital media, and public installations, his practice draws out mathematical ideas embedded in everyday experiences. Through an ongoing design practice, he creates work that is absurd, delightful, and approachable.

In this short animation, colorful squares take over the dance floor and groove to the funk-filled beat of “Fugue State”. The square is the central theme of this fugue. It transforms, rotates, decomposes, and recomposes itself into new and surprising displays. The animation is the union of mathematics, play, and very good music. This work is an homage to my favorite work of math art: Notes on a Triangle by Rene Jodoin.
