Biography

I'm a current Ph.D. candidate in computer science whose research focus is graph theory, a branch of math devoted to modelling relationships between objects or data. I’ve crocheted for a number of years, but over the past few years I’ve been captivated by mosaic overlay crochet, a technique that allows you to create beautiful tapestries by choosing which colours to hide and which to reveal with every stitch.

About the look

Interval T-Shirt

100% cotton yarn

2026

This piece showcases the understated beauty of interval graphs — intersection graphs of line segments on the real line. The pattern corresponds to the 4x4 universal unit interval graph, repeated in the round and up the torso. Each striped section is a row of intervals, with an inner colour for the interval itself and an outer colour to delineate the space between them. Worked in overlay mosaic crochet to create these ‘borders’ between each interval, the colourway is inspired by the colour-coded math textbooks we had each year of elementary and high school growing up, with the intervals themselves in the most dominant colours: shades of blue and green. This piece is made entirely with super fine weight yarn to achieve the crisp details of the mosaic pattern and show off every stitch.
