Statement

This "Torus Blossoms in a Sliceform Vase" reveal how abstract mathematics can be transformed into something both unexpected and beautiful. Inspired by torus geometry, I used Silhouette Studio to adjust the torus edges and slice angles, creating floral forms that echo its circular symmetry. Each slice was cut from cardstock with an electronic cutter and slid into place to form a flower. Layered petals were added to the center for depth. The blossoms are displayed on stems in a sliceform vase made from interlocking flat pieces that assemble into a sculptural, geometric base.

Additional info

These paper-cut flowers grew from my exploration of torus geometry. Using Silhouette Studio, I modified torus edges and adjusted slice angles to create floral forms that reflect its circular symmetry. Each slice was precisely cut from cardstock with an electronic cutter and slid into place, forming a torus flower. Layered petals at the center emphasize radial symmetry, while a sliceform vase—built from interlocking flat pieces—extends the geometry into a sculptural base. This project shows how abstract mathematics can generate unexpected, elegant forms.
