Statement

I write code for mathematical art as a reprieve from daily work. The mathematics is refreshing. The coding is relaxing. Producing a mathematical work that can be appreciated by a general audience is rewarding.

We begin with fifty strands of ten discrete points. The top and bottom points in each strand are all pinched together, and then points in between are randomly pinched together. Parametric equations are used to wrap the pinched strands around part of circle, and then bicubic splines are used to connect the points to create a flowing pattern. The process is then repeated on the other side of the circle.
