Statement
I work in all forms of printmaking and have created a group of prints to showcase the possibilities of earning color through layers, optical mixing. Aquatint allows for a multiple shades of a color from one plate, and 729 Colors and 64 Colors investigate the full range of color available using minimal number of plates.
Artworks

64 Colors is an aquatint etching that shows 64 possible examples of ink mixes made from three plates each carrying 4 tones of their given ink. 4 shades of yellow x 4 shades of magenta x 4 shades of cyan results in 64 different visible colors. These 64 colors are arranged randomly, as inspired by color chart paintings made by Gerhard Richter. While Richter worked largely writing a group of regimented formulas and picking them out of a hat one by one, these etching have been made by carefully planning the position and etch of each square to ensure that one example of each permutation exists in the final work.
