Statement

This year I've been experimenting with grid-based patterns created using repeated Kronecker products on matrices with entries 1 and -1. Creating patterns with this method creates fractal designs that I find to be interesting and unexpected. I represented two of these designs in embroidery. Overall the pattern was made by representing 1 in the matrix with a stitch and -1 with the absence of a stitch. I used two colors on the last iteration of the design to also show the seed pattern that it was made with.

This pattern was created by taking a 3 by 3 seed matrix and performing repeated Kronecker products with itself. This created a fractal based pattern that I embroidered.
