Statement
I'm broadly interested in culture and technology. This work reimagines cartography to explore the geometry of human existence and to craft deeply meaningful and authentic symbols rooted in the history of a place and a people. I also explore the inherent tension between technological progress and artistic creativity. I use modern tools, enabled by software and mathematics, to represent and transform the past in order to foster reflection on society and the future. My work is inspired by the heritage of antiquity and by my education in computer science.
Artworks
This artwork uses machine learning to blend the streets of Istanbul with the ceiling of the Blue Mosque (aka Sultan Ahmed Mosque) in a single piece of laser-cut wood, revealing the profound connection between the landmark and the urban landscape over many centuries. The resulting patterns echo history and the mosque's Islamic geometric designs, reflecting the deep mathematical principles embedded within them. This artwork offers a symbolic representation of shared cultural heritage and aims to spark dialogue about the role of technology in art.
