Statement
I’m an author interested in pattern and structure. I use paperfolding as an economical way of experimenting with geometry. I also use computer graphics software and programming languages to explore and create. Process is important: I desire simple and elegant methods for simple and elegant results. I have written five books on origami and am currently working on a book about tiling and symmetry groups.

Three kinds of zonohedra are made using the modular origami technique. They can collapse and change shape in surprising ways. Inspired by Jorge Pardo’s “Flexiball”, the units devised by me are simpler and easier to connect together.
The three zonohedra are the cube, rhombic dodecahedron and rhombic triacontahedron: the first two are polar zonohedra and the last two are Archimedean solids. All have parallel edges in the same colour. Each colour in each zonohedron is made from one sheet of A4 paper so the number of sheets used is only three, four and six, respectively.
You may wish to make your own: see the workshop “Bend-a-ball: Make Flexible Zonohedra and Other Polyhedra with a Simple Modular Origami Edge Unit” for instructions.
