Statement

I use 3 approaches to generating new ideas in my works: 1 Problem solving; 2 Looking at the problem from a different perspective; 3 Merging existing ideas. I examined the arrangement of motifs in Irish lace from a geometric perspective, highlighting the clover element, which is rotational symmetry of the third order. I then combined these motifs asymmetrically in the style of traditional Eastern girih patterns. This resulted in a pattern that differs from the classic mirror-symmetric pattern of 3-leaf or 3-petaled motifs, which often left large gaps between the motifs. By solving the problem of reducing the space between motifs, I created geometric figures composed of clover elements that can be arranged into a larger pattern.
