Statement

In this part of my work I am exploring the combining properties of the pentagon on a plane. In another submission, the the Fashion and Art, i explore the possibilities of the pentagon in garments. It would be interesting to combine these two submissions. The submissions will reinforce each other. The regular pentagon is a simple shape, coming after the triangle and the square. These shapes combine and fill the plane, but pentagons don't. For me the pentagon is a model, metaphor for the human. We also do not combine without any space in between. This painting is made up of pentagons to show how humans should give each other space for breathing. The painted layer then improvises on the resulting combined shape.

Artworks

In this work 10 regular pentagons are arranged in a circle. Inside this circle the three starting pentagons of the same size can be arranged. If continued, this circle in the center will spiral out of the plane.
