Statement

My work focuses on human thought and action in relation to the application of materials and techniques. I investigate the use of geometric shapes that have acquired a deeper meaning during the development of human civilization.

Additional info

The cross, the sword and the tie show clear similarities in their geometry. The common symbolism of these archetypal objects is the representation of patriarchal power. The cross represents the centuries-long power of the ecclesiastical institution. The sword functions as an instrument of dominance and control, where justice and law were often enforced by violence. The tie, narrow at the top and wider at the bottom, suggests an inverted pyramid, a subtle reference to social and economic hierarchy. The geometrical shaped crusader is the shedder of blood and symbolizes the unscrupulousness with which he exercises power over his fellow man.
