Statement
As a child, I dreamed to study mathematics and arts. I became a mathematician and my love of arts remained my hobby. I am trying to spread the beauty of Mathematics through all what I do - through my lectures, through math circles to high school students, through animated movies about Math, which I helped to create, and lately also through Silk paintings. I love flowers and geometrical designs and playing with the technique a colors.

Three Tessellations in Blue
20.0 x 60.0 x 1.0 cm
Silk painting
2025
The artwork consists of three small separate pieces. The middle piece was inspired by an Italian architect Francesco Borromini and his tessellations based on hexagons, octagons and non-convex dodecagons on a curved surface. The right piece is inspired by a recently discovered aperiodic tilling by David Smith. The tiles are non-convex 13-gons, here outlined in white. There is also a hidden pattern of regular hexagons, in silver, emphasized in colouring by different shades of blue. The seemingly regular pattern is distracted at some places, bringing into the picture irregularity and chaos, so typical for the nature. This brings us to the last left piece, completely irregular tessellation inspired by a pattern on a wing of a dragonfly.
