Statement

I started making mathematical art in 2012, and one of my first designs, was a lamp. I wasn't much inspired, to make something new, for this year, and allthough I tend to take these old designs for granted, it is still inspiring, to fold paper sheets, with heptagonal shapes. I wanted to make a better picture for the second lamp (2019) which I also will exhibit at this years gallery. I allready sold this one, so I had to make the same thing again. Allthough that wasn't a very exciting thing to do, this inspired me, to make even another one (so there is also a lamp 2025). I love to explore new shapes, puzzle, and see if things fit. And to decide, if I like the result.

This lamp was designed, by using regular heptagons (5 times 12=60 in total). To obtain an iccosadodecahedral structure, the heptagons are forced into these curved shapes. The pentagonal holes are also closed with regular pentagons, so that the lightbulb isn't visible.

This variant consists of 10 times 12=120 regular heptagons. Here, the heptagons don't have a curved surface because then there would be too much tension. To release the tension, the heptagons are folded.
