Statement

My PhD was one of the most incredible times of my life. I met so many people I loved and learned so much about who I was. And now it's over. This geometric icon is my way of expressing what I can't in words. I spent five and a half years studying Voronoi diagrams, tessellation of space into regions of closeness around points. Now it all seems so far away. These geometries bend and curve in ways physical space cannot. In the infinite space we grew and fit together, every cell so unique and complex. I cannot bear being pulled apart. This was the last thing I made in my PhD. The center cannot hold. I will miss this time, these discoveries, who we were together, more than I can take. I leave my star in the sky.

My geometric art merges orthodox iconography with computational geometry. It primarily features Voronoi diagrams, cellular tessellations of space around points by proximity, including non Euclidean geometries such as Poincare, Cayley-Klein, Thompson, Hilbert, and the forward and reverse Funk metrics (some of these are unstudied and the visuals are novel). These non Euclidean geometries allow me to better represent the exponential and complex underlying geometry of divine thought and love. The composition follows the traditional 4:3 icon proportions with features elongated upwards towards the heavens. Created after 5.5 years of research, this work represents the culmination of my efforts and passion for geometry and art throughout my PhD.
